In 30 seconds: Our founder Sam ran the full Landed landing process himself this week, as a client. He took off from London at 2pm on Monday 27 July 2026 and landed in Dubai at 11pm. By 5pm Tuesday every appointment was done: VIP medical at Smart Salem, biometrics at the Federal Authority for Identity. His residence visa was approved Wednesday. At 5pm Thursday his Emirates ID card was hand delivered to his hotel on the Palm, and by 9pm that evening his Wio business account was authorised and live. Landing to banked resident: under 72 hours. This is the diary, hour by hour, of what living in Dubai from the UK actually starts like when the sequence is run properly.
Monday: Wheels Up at 2pm, the Palm by Midnight
The trick to a fast landing is that the landing is the last step, not the first. The company licence and entry permit were arranged before the flight, so Monday was just travel: London at 2pm, Dubai at 11pm local, hotel on the Palm, sleep. Nothing needed doing on arrival except immigration and a taxi.
Tuesday: Every Appointment Done by 5pm
1:30pm, Smart Salem. The residence visa medical, done the VIP way at Smart Salem, the DHA approved centre built for exactly this. Greeted at the door, walked through the building, full bloods done immediately. Sam chose the premium screening package, so alongside the visa requirements he had the extended biomarker panel, hormone and cortisol levels, and a couple of the optional DNA panels Smart Salem offers on things like ageing and hair. The visa medical itself is minutes; the premium extras turn a legal requirement into an actual health check.
Mid afternoon, the Federal Authority for Identity. A taxi across town for biometrics. With the VIP package that meant front of the queue, roughly five minutes waiting, fingerprints done within five minutes of sitting down, and out of the building inside twenty minutes total.
By 5pm Tuesday, less than 18 hours after landing, every physical appointment was complete. The medical came back a pass with excellent results, which let everything move immediately.
Wednesday: Residence Visa Approved
No appointments, no queues. The approvals moved through the system while Sam got on with his day. Residence visa approved.
Thursday: Emirates ID in Hand by 5pm, Banked by 9pm
At 5pm Thursday, Adam hand delivered Sam's Emirates ID card to his hotel on the Palm. Then the part most guides never mention: the hour of phone admin that turns a visa into a life. Adam walked Sam through it on the spot: UAE eSIM installed and live, UAE Pass (the national digital identity app everything runs on) registered and set up, Wio personal account opened on his phone, Wio business account application submitted from the same sofa. By 9pm the business account was authorised and active.
Monday 11pm: landed. Thursday 9pm: resident, Emirates ID in wallet, personal and business banking live. Under 72 hours.
The Man on the Ground
None of this speed comes from luck. It comes from Adam, our co founder in Dubai, sequencing every step before the plane took off: the licence done, the entry permit issued, the medical booked at the right centre with the right package, the biometrics slot lined up, and the delivery and phone setup handled in person. The process is the product.
The Honest Caveats
This was the VIP run with everything pre sequenced and a clean file; a typical move takes two to three weeks from licence to Emirates ID, and our full breakdown of what each stage takes is in the Dubai visa processing time guide. The medical is mandatory and includes a blood test, and UK government guidance is explicit that certain positive results can mean detention and deportation, so take advice first if that could affect you. And at the time of writing the FCDO advises against all but essential travel to the UAE due to regional tensions, so check the live advice and your insurance before booking.

UAE Pass is the national digital identity app, and yes: government services, approvals and much of daily admin run through it. Setting it up on day one, as part of the landing sequence, saves weeks of friction later.
